The Preparing to work in Home-based Childcare Qualification (HBCA) is a CACHE-accredited and Ofsted-recognised level 3 award that covers everything you need to become a home-based childcarer, registered childminder, childminding assistant or nanny.

Who is it suitable for?

Preparing to Work in Home-Based Childcare is a Level 3 Award. If you want to work in a home-based childcare setting as a registered childminder, childminding assistant or nanny, it's the perfect course for you.

Is this qualification taken online or in-person?

The course is taken online. You will have access to live webinars and recordings. The webinars cover all the learning you need to gain to complete the course, and you can access the webinars as many times as you wish during your course duration. Additionally, you will be provided with an e-portfolio with interactive resources to expand your knowledge and where you upload your assignments / evidence.

How long does the qualification take to complete?

The course can be completed within 8-12 weeks, depending on the time a learner is able to dedicate.

What types of jobs can I apply for upon completion?

Upon completion of this qualification, you could start looking at a range of opportunities such as working as a registered childminder, childminding assistant, nanny or other childcare related role.
