Director on the radio

I usually give you details of our next One World Club show, which is free to all and a chance for me to meet you in person. However, since the next one isn’t till January 9th I won’t mention it this time. OK, I just did! Watch this space, I’ll tell you all about it next month. Instead I’ll tell you about Secklow Sounds. This is a new community radio station in Milton Keynes, launching on December 4th. For the first month it will only be accessible on the Internet, by logging onto
www.secklowsounds.org

From 1st January it will also be available on air at 87.7 FM. I’ve been invited to co-present a weekly show, every Thursday, commencing December 8th, 8 till 10 p.m., promoting local music. I’ll be introducing local musicians and interviewing them, together with my colleague Debbie Murray, who will also present a guest each show. My first guest is somebody I taught guitar to when he was just eight. He is now thirty-eight and performing regularly, not only as a guitarist, but he has gone on to become an expert player of sitar, and is much in demand at Indian functions. I’m now too busy to teach guitar, but Paul is available. If you are looking for a guitar tutor and like what you see, speak to Stella on 01273 413 855. Paul is also scheduled to perform at our next One World Club show, which I said I wasn’t going to mention. But what I would have said, had I been prepared to mention it is that the radio station plan coming to that show and recording it live. Too late, I’ve mentioned it again!

Music students alert
Since we’re talking about the arts, my own daughter is due back from University in the summer when she completes a degree in Theatre Studies. She’ll be available to tutor performance coaching to anybody needing help conquering the stage. She currently fronts a band which won a Battle of The Bands contest in November. You can check them out at

or see her giving a live performance at

Try not to look at the ugly old fellow behind her playing guitar; that’s me!

Have a good holiday whatever you’re celebrating.

Andy
